There are a number of cases where you are in the country but do not need a visa for Turkey. This way you do not have to apply for a visa when you are passing through and you do not stay at the airport for more than 24 hours. You can also enter the country by cruise ship without a visa. Conditions are that you are not longer than 72 hours in Turkey and remain within the boundaries of the city where the ship is moored.
4. What can I do with my Turkey visa?
You can stay in Turkey for a maximum of 90 consecutive days. If you travel in and out of the country several times during the period of validity of the visa, the total number of days added together may not exceed 90 days. The validity of the E visa is 180 days and starts as soon as you arrive in the country. As long as the visa is valid, you can travel in and out of Turkey as often as you like.

A visa for Turkey can only be applied for with a valid passport. As mentioned, the visa is valid for 180 days after arrival in the country (so you can be in the country for a maximum of 90 days) and therefore your passport must also be valid for at least another 180 days.
