Porto is Portugal's second city and, like Lisbon, is perfect for a long weekend getaway. Spend the night in The Passenger Hostel right in the center of Porto and walk through the narrow streets to the various sights. With an abundance of nice restaurants, Porto makes it a popular destination to visit when visiting Portugal.
In the São Bento train station you will find The Passenger Hostel which has three floors with both private and shared rooms. It also has nice communal areas to relax in or meet other backpackers.
Walk into the beautiful São Bento train station (also worth a look if you're not going to sleep here). On the left, at platform 1, you will find the glass entrance of this nice hostel. Upon entering you immediately have the bar (and, among other things, the meeting point for pub crawls) and then you end up in the loft where you can relax, play the piano and meet other backpackers.

Nice private rooms can be found on the first floor, where the kitchen and shared bathrooms can be found on the other 'across the hall' and have a window with a view of the São Bento train station. In terms of ambient noise, it's not too bad when you go to sleep. You're right in the center, so don't expect a mouse's silence, but it's not that it will keep you awake either.
At the end of the corridor there is another shared area with leather sofas, a desk and a scenic view of life in the city. Don't forget to look up in this room and admire the beautiful ceiling. You will also find the suite that The Passenger Hostel offers at the end of the corridor. It has four beds and really gives you a loft feeling with the high walls and windows and you have a very nice view of the busy life in Porto.
All the hostel's dorms are on the second floor. These differ from the number of beds per room. Again, there are shared bathrooms that are clean and good looking. If you have a limited budget, sleeping in a dorm is always a good option.
The top floor shows why I think this is a cool hostel. In addition to the spacious and large kitchen to enjoy the free breakfast or to prepare your own lunch or dinner, the third floor also has something special.
With a shared area with swing beds, bar table and a bar, you can easily meet new backpackers here. Also check out the fun activity board on the ground floor for walking tours, pub crawls, surf lessons and more.
If you walk further through this room, you will arrive at a special place. A room with a wooden floor puts you in a place where peace and quiet come together. A ladder, a hanging statue and the clock of the São Bento train station (just ask the reception). A perfect place to do some yoga or meditation to let the chaos and bustle of Porto sink in.

You walk out of the hostel and you are directly at the São Bento train station. From here you can discover the city of Porto. And the hostel is really in the center, making it perfect to see most of Porto's sights. You can also easily take a trip to northern Braga by train or take bus 500 to go to Praia da Luz, one of Porto's many beaches.
In Porto there are many nice food hotspots and good restaurants that are within walking distance of the hostel.
